1000 Rounds Loose - 223 Rem Steel Case Russian Ammo - HARD PRIMER - SOLD AS-IS - Read Description

56 Grain FMJ bi-metal magnetic bullet with lacquered steel case and sealed primer and projectile

WARNING - SOLD 'AS-IS' - The factory loaded this ammo with a Russian mil-spec primer normally used for 5.45x39 military ammo and it is harder than a normal 223/5.56 primer which causes problems with ignition in most guns. It requires a deep hit to the primer and in an AR15 it will only work properly if you use a longer than stock firing pin known as an 'enhanced firing pin', and many guns will also require an extra heavy hammer spring like the wolff XP spring, some guns may require minor gunsmithing work to work reliably, and its possible that you may still have an occasional round that does not fire. This ammo is sold 'AS-IS' with no warranty or returns and is a chance to save about $60 per 1000 over similar ammo if you are willing to make the changes needed for the firearm to work with it. Many AK47 and other guns also have issues with this ammo and will need to be worked over mechanically to run with this ammo so unless you have parts or are willing to get them and are inclined to work on the guns then do not buy this ammo. We recommend that it only be purchased for AR15s with both the enhanced firing pin and heavy hammer spring as these parts are available and seems to get the ammo to work well in most guns. On the plus side if you get your gun to work with this you never have to share the ammo with mooching friends at the range and the savings on 10,000 rounds will almost make the difference to pay for another AR15. For high volume shooters, machine gun rentals, commercial ranges, training facilities, and others there is a lot of savings to be had. It would not be a good choice for someone who was just wanting a single case of ammo who did not want to work on their gun to optimize for this ammo.

Customer Reviews

Great ammo as long as enhanced firing pin is used. Please get more if possible SG!
Works fine with enhanced fireing pin, occasionally a deep primer won't ignite, overall an excellent value.
Bought 2k and shot about 300rds today in a M&P15 and a AR556 both riffles work flawless with enhanced firing pins and no failures. Usually plink with Tulammo but they are known to break of at extraction point and stick in the chamber. Great Ammo!
My New England single shot rifle eats this ammo ok. Sometimes I will have to strike it twice.
Ran this through my PSA 16" Melonite carbine length build that I thought I had optimized to chug steel case. I'd say 60% of what I fired in the first 100 rounds successfully fired. I went ahead and purchased the suggested hardware at the same time as this ammo. Once I swapped the firing pin and hammer spring out I was able to run the next 600 flawlessly. I'm convinced my rifle will eat anything now. I've been running Golden Tiger (Vympel) ammo through my AKs for quite some time, and to see what is essentially GT ammo at this price I couldn't pass it up. If this Vympel contract ammo keeps coming I will keep buying for sure.
Shot 400 rounds of this nonstop without a single FTE or FTF on a Palmetto State Armory upper with a FMK polymer lower (PSA FCG and buffertube/buffer/spring), blackriflearm 7.62x39mm ar15 firing pin, wolf xp hammer spring. Avoid the FMK polymer lower as they are not properly drilled. After 400 rounds the purple/sealant/grease melted all into my BCG and throat of the barrel. Makes me wonder where else it could get. it broke off in a pretty decent sized hard chunk. Still, if you're smart you clean your rifle after every shoot.
Best .223 ammo deal in world. Bought 5k. Purchased 3 enhanced FPs and 3 XL Wolff Springs. Tried it with a PSA Freedom rifle with just the enhanced FP. 500 rounds with no FTF/FTE. Great ammo for long-term storage/training. Primers and bullets are water-proof sealed. Very clean rounds that are of high quality. Couldn't be happier with this deal. Going in credit card debt to buy more at this price. With a $12 enhanced firing pin + 1 case of ammo + shipping; this is still less than 20 cents per round. If you can afford to buy more, it approaches 17 cents. That's not much more than .22 a couple years back.
300 rds in the first outing and with a Wolf extra power hammer spring, and enhanced 5.45x39 firing pin it all ran 100%.
Tried this ammo in a PSA and an Aero Precision AR15 rifle, and approximately 20% of rounds fired. Then I installed 7.62X39 firing pins from Windham Weaponry in both rifles (both with mil-spec hammer springs), and have 100% reliability. This 7.62X39 firing pin yields a .05" protrusion in both bolts, versus a .03" protrusion with the standard mil-spec firing pins. I have shot plenty of standard LCXM855 with these extended pins and not experienced any pierced primers. This Vympal ammo is not especially accurate in my rifles, but good for training.
Shot 60 rounds of this and it didn't FTF or FTE after performing the recommended mods on a 16" melonite. I installed a 7.62 x 39mm ar15 firing pin from black rifle arms into my Custom build ar15 with a spikes T2 tungsten buffer and a wolf xp hammer spring. Never fired before. Fired 150 rounds of Tula from this same sight and that garbage keeps snapping the rim that the ejector grabs onto and would cause a fte. I've fired 1k rounds of Tula from CTD without issues but without a doubt after 60 rounds of this for the 2k rounds I've purchased I know I will buy more!
